When Katy Perry followed her on instagram, her instagram exploded on the internet with tweens writing revealing comments on her posts. According to her: “I'm not representing myself as a slutty version of Taylor Swift. The name just raised the question "what if Taylor Swift were slutty?” The online reaction to my username opened up the idea of how pop media drives female sexuality into this whore/Madonna zone. It's just a name that was funny, but I realized later that it's representative of the incongruity in perceptions of females in pop media.”
